Golf course Roughs ecology

The roughs at Royal Portrush are particularly attractive at this time of year with wild flowers throughout the links. This is of great benefit to all sorts of invertibrates such as caterpillars, butterflies and bees. These invertibrates are then a benefit to all of the different types of birds also seen on the links.

The open sand areas created are beginning to be populated by birds foot trefoil and sand sedge, these areas are great habitat for bees.
